Reliable Food Sensitivity Testing
Finding those foods that trigger negative physical symptoms
Food sensitivity testing is an important aspect of functional medicine treatments at Atlanta’s Georgetown Clinics. Because food allergies can be very serious and in some cases, life threatening, we perform comprehensive food allergy and sensitivity testing at several of our clinics, including Sandy Springs and Woodstock. Though only about four percent of the population suffers from food allergies, it is estimated that 70% of us suffers from food sensitivity issues, creating an epidemic of adverse reactions.
Food Sensitivity vs Food Allergies: What’s the Difference?
Food allergy symptoms include more obviously related, immediate symptoms like tingling of the tongue, digestive stress, and constricted airways. Food sensitivity issues however, have been linked to less-obvious, long-term conditions, such as:
- Migraine headaches
- Chronic Fatigue
- Joint Pain
- Inability to lose weight
It is almost impossible to link a food sensitivity to a chronic condition without the aid of food sensitivity testing.
How Does Georgetown Clinics Test For Food Sensitivity?
Normal food allergy testing is not designed to test for the delayed symptoms of a food sensitivity. That is why we use the C3d Antigen test for gluten intolerance and other sensitivity to chemicals and food. This type of food sensitivity testing exposes delayed responses and reactions. This allows our doctors to have a better understanding of the way certain food allergens affect your mood, concentration, ability to lose or maintain a healthy weight, and even what seemingly unrelated symptoms may have to do with your body’s unique food sensitivities.
